Tsvetnye Metally

Most of the articles included in Issue No. 10 of Tsvetnye Metally describes unique achievements of researchers from the D.Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. The issue features papers that examine the passivation treatment of zinc and its alloys in environmentally friendly molybdate-bearing solutions with the purpose of substituting high-toxicity solutions used in chromate passivation processes; synthesis of luminescent organic-inorganic hybrid materials with a fluoride inorganic matrix; treatment of electrochemical wastewater. The authors report on ways to raise the recovery of carbon sorbents from aqueous solutions of chlorides and sodium sulphates by electroflotation following the static sorption mode; the production of superhydrophobic corrosion-resistant protective coatings on AlMg6 alloy; the proposed method for identifying rhenium in igneous rock. One of the articles analyzes the possibility to use precipitation for the recirculating water supply system of a machine building site.

The current issue features two articles on the production of refractory ceramics.

The Heavy Non-Ferrous Metals section features an article authored by Norilsk Nickel, Gipronikel Institute and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The paper examines the changing dynamics of the gas-dust flow in the flash smelter at Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant due to addition of a shield. It also contains model calculations. The second part of the article is to be published soon.

In the article Production of Low-Scandium Аl – Mg Alloys published in the Materials Science section, the authors from the Siberian Federal University report on the results of a study carried out on a lab-scale semicontinuous ingot caster aimed at obtaining semi-finished products with preset performance properties.

The Metal Processing section features the following article: Interaction between Copper and Thermally Expanded Graphite during Mechanical Alloying and Spark Plasma Sintering, authored by the Perm National Research Polytechnic University.
