In the December issue we can highlight the section Foundry dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the chair for Metallurgical Technologies and Equipment of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R. E. Alekseev. Readers will get acquainted with the history of formation and development of the Nizhny Novgorod scientific and pedagogical school of metallurgists, will learn about the key topics of scientific work of the chair in recent years.
The Rolling and other processes for metal forming section is devoted to the 90th anniversary of the chair for Technologies for metal forming of Bauman MSTU. A historical essay on the development and achievements of the scientific school of the chair is presented. The school's contribution to the training of engineering personnel, to the study of technological processes and equipment of forging and stamping production is noted. The methodology of quality management of metal products with elements of robust design is offered: researches allowed to establish the optimum technological mode giving the best value of a quality indicator with simultaneous minimization of production losses. Also one of the topics of the section was an experimental study of the contour error of the high boxes with relatively large radii of angular roundings obtained by drawing from sheet welded multi-thickness blanks of high-strength steel, relevant, in particular, for the automotive industry. The economic effect from the implementation of the presented study results involves savings of up to 10% of the material of the box part with a given position of the weld and the specified thicknesses of material.
