Uralasbest asbest-processing plant is the largest in Russia and abroad. Annually, the plant processes nearly 18 Mt of ore and produces up to 450 thou t of chrysotile asbestos. The plant operates 21 orebodies. Commercial output of the plant includes asbestos of all quality groups (zero to seventh) containing two to seven quality grades each. In view of wide variety of orebodies within the deposit and wide spectrum of the marketable products, it is especially important to objectively evaluate various factors that can change commercial output quantity and affect reliable planning of ore quality characteristics and the plant’s operating regimes. The article reviews the research based on which the automated analysis system was developed and run by the discussed plant to evaluate the plant’s performance in terms of planned output of marketable asbestos from 2002 to mid 2009. The author proposes solution aimed to improve accuracy of calculating effect exerted by individual factors on marketable asbestos output in the plant’s operation analysis within different time periods. Besides, it is suggested how to better accuracy of setting scheduled productivity figures and evaluating their influence on marketable asbestos yield. With reference to advanced research, it is shown that the proposed approach to planning and evaluation of the plant’s performance in terms of the marketable product output is sufficiently accurate and applicable at other asbestos processing plants.
