Abstract

Having fixed the specificity and complexity of mine planning under the current difficult and variable geological conditions, in terms of the open pit coal mining, the author presents the program system for multicriteria optimization (MCO) and selection of mine projects as a modern system of high-level intelligent man–machine dialog. Methods of organizing interaction between such system and the state-of-the-art application package for mine planning are described. It is shown that the use of sector models of mining operations in combination with the method of feasible directions, based on disperse matrix computation, enables solving a wide range of mine planning problems. The author offers some key solutions on software engineering, including open systems of MCO equipped with tools allowing a user to identify optimization problems without assistance of a programming specialist. These solutions include information exchange with the conventional databases on mine planning, organization of the adaptive man–machine dialog and a special artificial language of MCO problem presentation. The article gives a description of the scope of MCO database (MCODB) and its operation procedure for user–coal mine planners. The author illustrates and describes the developed pilot program support for open MCO for open pit coal mine planning and ways of its progression and replication. Efficiency of the developed program system is demonstrated in terms of mining expansion optimization at Neryungri open pit mine.
