Abstract

CMI Industry Metals has put into practice pulverizing modules in the lately modernized pickling line, and this innovation allowed to remove scale by acid from strip surface more quickly in comparison with dip pickling: operating time has been decreased by 30 %. Jet pickling requires essentially lower acid volume than dip pickling; the pulverizing module contains 6-8 m3 of acid, and that is only about 30 % of acid in conventional pickling lines. The pickling line productivity has been elevated by 70 %. It is possible now to pickle strip made of non-alloyed steels at signifi cantly higher traffic speed and to design new less extended pickling lines. Besides that, pickling parameters can be variated flexibly from one coil to another. This method provides energy saving because strip pickling can be realized at lower acid temperature. E.g., lowering of the bath temperature from 90 to 70 ºC guarantees economy of expenses by more than 20 %.
