Ensuring the required mechanical properties of hot-rolled strips is carried out through the management of phase transformations during deformation and cooling, as they are responsible for the formation of mechanical strength and ductility of the rolled products. The influence of hot plastic deformation and recrystallization processes on the refi nement of the structure leads to the scientific interest in these phenomena from the point of view of the development and implementation of optimal technological solutions. The process of grain formation of austenite during rolling in the finishing group of continuous wide hot-rolling mill commercial quality carbon steel of st3sp brand is investigated in the presented paper. It is established that high speeds and small pauses between rolling deformation finalize in the effect of the summarizing of the true strains. Removal of restrictions on the size of the relative compression facilitates the adjustment of the finishing group of mill stands, provides a stable passage of the front and rear ends of the strip and contribute to the stabilization of the final structure of the metal.
