It is very often that mines carry out blasting operations at closely spaced buildings in structures. The resultant seismic effects can generate extra loads on these objects, initiating residual displacements and fracturing. Expanson of mining toward critical objects and seismically unfavorable operating conditions necessitate correct evaluation of sismic effects. The article is devoted to seismic impact assessment of blasting works in difficult mining and geological conditions. The significance of these studies is due to the high frequency practical requirement to ensure safety of critical industrial and civilian facilities susceptible to seismic impact caused by explosions in mines. The examples provided in the article show that the normative method of calculating seismically safe distances is only suitable as rough primary estimation. The direct instrumental measurements of the seismic effect are by far the only reliable way to determine the dependence of the magnitude of the seismic impact on the distance and other factors. In this connection, the authors propose an approach to precise determination of the wave amplitude decay velocity with distance based on the use of a base seismic station. The article illustrates the influence of ground conditions (site effect) as a factor of significant influence on the level of the seismic impact. The package of approaches to estimating influence of soil on uneven distribution of seismic impact over the studied area and to taking the outcome into account in predicting the seismic effect of blasting without superfluous work is offered.
