Abstract

Over recent decades pollution from coke oven batteries was reduced by the use of improved chamber closures. Under current conditions this alone no longer fulfils the requirements for avoiding coke oven battery emissions. Therefore a new type of single chamber pressure regulating system was developed which has been successfully installed on a stamp charged battery. The system regulates the pressure in the chamber at a constant level over the complete distillation period and delivers an essential contribution for further reduction of emissions from coke oven batteries.
