Abstract

The balance model of the Finex process shows the effect of the variation of process parameters on the energy consumption. Technological scheme of the Finex process is presented, zones and output screen of the melter gasifier are analyzed. In the course of process enhancement as well as environmental improvements of the operations a CO2 emission reduction is aspired. Comparison of the balance cases is conducted for different materials. CO2 savings of each balance case are compared to the base case. A specific substitution of coal or purge gas (N2) by fuel surrogates (e. g. recycled reduction gas from the process itself) leads to a decrease of greenhouse gases emissions.
