Abstract

Oil and gas production from marine fields has been constantly increased during last decade. Currently, the share of these fields in global oil-and-gas production consists of 1/3 and 1/4 for petroleum and gas, respectively. By the early XXI century, the marine hydrocarbon fields provided 4% from its global production. Water depth development has reached on more than two kilometers. The technique and technologies of oil and gas exploration and production are developed rapidly. Against this background, the potentially productive deep-sea basins of Arctic Eurasian continental margin only started being investigated. Despite the fact that oil-and-gas resources here are estimated in billions tons of oil equipment, the features of the resources distribution along the area and across the section are still unclear. During last years, the research staff of FSUE «I.S. Gramberg VNIIOkeangeologia», deciphered the sedimentary cover structure along few seismic lines and made the up-to-date map of sedimentary cover thickness (scale 1:5 000 000). An imperative task is systematic reconnaissance investigation of productive deep-sea basins along the system of complex geophysical lines (seismic, gravity, and magnetic surveys).
