Abstract

Basic characteristics of tailings in the washed massif depend on their granulometric composition and occurance depth. According to this, three basic sediments area are formed in the tailing dump bowl: zone of deposition of retaining piisms, intermediate zone of deposition and central (pool) zone of deposition.
Due to the pulp putting in the tailing dump couch of the solid phase on the fractions divides gravitationally: the most large particles are near the place of the outlet from the sludge line; small particles are in the pool area.
Engineering and geological research of tailing dump range allowed to establish the density behavior by the tailing dump depth. According to this, there is proposed the methodology of the dynamics probing of the wastes (tailings) of uranium ores` processing in operating and non-operating tailing dumps. The tailings are specific on the substantial and granulometric composition.
Application of this methodology is recommended for the monitoring of the tailings massif in time and dimension of its formation, as well as during the projecting of tailing dump recultivation.
