Abstract

The history of a Moscow State Mining University Chair of physics of rocks and processes began in 1962, when it was founded by V. V. Rzhevskiy, who became its first Head.
The following disciplines are on this chair: thermodynamics; hydromechanics; geomechanics; material science; physics of rocks; mechanical destruction of rocks; thermodynamic processes of mining industry; electromagnetic processes of mining industry; displacement and warehousing of mining mass; computer application in engineering accounts; geomechanical supply of mining; technics and technology of rocks destruction; complex usage of mineral resources; methods of inventive problems solving.
Educational and laboratory base of a chair of physics of rocks and processes includes the research laboratories of physical processes in rocks, electromagnetic processes in extraction and processing of mineral resourses, geomechanics, thermodynamics, physics of rocks and materials science. Basic directions of the applied researches in and around the physics of rocks are:
- development of physical basis and methods of influence on the rocks with the aim of changing their conditions;
- methods of the forecasting of structure, conditions and massifs behavior during the extraction and processing of rocks on the basis of their physical properties difference (complex of properties);
- creation of new approaches, along with improvement of existing ones;
- improvement of techniques and technologies of extraction and processing of rocks with an impact of various physical fields.
