Equipment reliability is a key indicator of preproduction. Ensuring of high-level reliability is a difficult task, for both attendants and technological personnel. One of the possible ways to increase the equipment reliability is using “oil-air” lubrication systems. The results of us ing “oil-air” lubrication systems to lubricate rolling-element bearings of work rolls a part of 2000 hot rolling mill at Magnitogorsk Integrated Metallurgical Works are considered in this work. Application of lubrication  system has caused a decrease of the lubricant consumption in eight times and sizeable increase of average resource of rolling-element bearings of work rolls (by 2.1 times). Thus the distribution of average resource of rolling-element bearings varies depending on stand, place of installation in the stand and bearing’s manufactu rer. It is revealed that the average resource of rolling-element bearings decreases at increase of rolling speed. In most cases rolling-element bearing failures occur on the fixed support as a result of axial efforts influence on it. Water and scale getting into the rolling-element bearing also take negative affect to its resource. Design changes in bearing unit have allowed to exclude this influence partially. The analysis of the data on bearing resources and variety of manufacturers has shown that the best average resource values have bearings of foreign manufacturers; domestically produced bearings give the satisfactory result thus not always correspond to the result declared by the manufacturer. In the future the received attainments will allow technicians to choose the bearings which have good resource characteristics depending on a place of their installation.
