Museums

This issue presents a new project of the State Hermitage and «Ore and Metals» Publishing House. Articles about the museum collections are devoted to the 300-th anniversary of Saint Petersburg.

This special issue includes the articles about the highlights of Hermitage, which describe the achievements of mining and metallurgy, inventions, discoveries, improvements and facilities, created by engineers and workers.

This issue includes the articles of leading research workers of the State Hermitage about the monuments, created by various outstanding masters: painters, stone carvers, jewelers, architects, forgers etc. In their creative work, these masters widely used not only leading scientific developments of their time, but also stone and metals, extracted by mining engineers and metallurgists.
