Museums - Special issue

This special issue is devoted to the 125-th anniversary of the State Historical Museum, which was celebrated on the 27-th of May, 2008.

This issue describes the historical and technological connection of the museum pieces with ores, minerals, metals and other objects of mining and metallurgy. Such unusual and original approach makes it possible to tell about the history of creation and peculiarities of the production technology of certain objects of exposition.

An introduction of the Director of the Museum A. I. Shkurko is addressed to the readers: «The monuments to Russian metallurgy and metal processing have been always collected, kept and researched by the collective of Historical Museum as the integral part of Russian economic and cultural history. The collection of articles, written by our colleagues, describes the huge variety of aspects, specific subject area, and inexhaustible possibilities of further research of a considerable part of Russian historical heritage, which is kept in the State Historical Museum».

Presentation of this special issue was held on the 29-th of May, 2008 in the State Historical Museum.
