Probably, the last issue of the year of 2013, as we approach our favorite holidays in expectation of stability and prosperity, shows a glitter of noble metals.

The article by А.V. Zashikhin et al., describes the practical experience in final treatment of heavy concentrate at one of gold prospectors' artels. An efficient flow sheet was developed and introduced for a gravity concentration plant withhydraulic elevator material feeding. Microscopical analysis of the concentration plant products showed, that heavy concentrate contains silver, its recovery being of a commercial interest for the facility.

The studies, performed at the Research Institute of Comprehensive Exploitation of Mineral Resources (V.V. Getman, А.О. Gapchich) on monomineral samples of pyrite containing artificially provided emulsion-disseminated gold and on a natural sample of pyrite intergrowths with gold, showed effectiveness of diisobutyldithiophosphenate application as an additional collector in sulfide gold-bearing ores flotation.

The features of chemical composition of platinum group minerals and their distribution with respect to platinum-bearing chromitites of the UG-2 horizon of Eastern sector of the Bushveld massif are defined in the article by Ye.S. Semikolennykh and S.V. Petrov. The spatial confinement of platinum mineralization to early chromespinels’ types and palladium – to later chromites is revealed. The obtained data may be used for improvement of a model of platinum-group metals ore genesis in association with mafic-ultramafic mineralogenic systems such as Bushveld and other similar complexes, as well as for forecasting, exploring and assessment of new platinum metals ore deposits and also solution of technological tasks in ore beneficiation.

The article by N.K. Algebraistova et al., is dedicated to refinery silver-containing slag samples’ material composition studies and development of a technology for recovery of noble metals from such slag. The material composition was studied using microscopes Axioskop 40, Hitachi TM-1000, Hitachi ТМ-3000. Combination gravity-flotation flowsheets are proposed for recovery of noble metals, permitting to recover gold, silver and platinum group metals into concentrated products.
