Chernye Metally

The 7th issue of “Chernye metally” journal is opened by two conventional sections: “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.

The first article in the section “Continuous casting” O. Wiens and W. Moβner from SMS Group have presented the review of the new Uniguard mould coating in continuous caster for stainless steels. It is based on the operating example of the plant of Fuxin Iron & Steel Company. The coating has an essential positive effect of mould service life and improvement of product quality.

The section “Coating and surface treatment” is opened by the paper from CMI Industry Metals GmbH. The authors have considered the problem of decrease of pickling duration owing to usage of pulverizing modules. The new method allows to conduct pickling at lower temperature and provides lowering of power expenses.

The section “Power engineering and ecology” presents the paper devoted to dust recycling in steelmaking process using RecoDust technology. The new development of the chair of technologies of thermal processes in Leoben mining and metallurgical university allows to realize transformation of different dust-kind residues in products ready for usage.

N.F. Vasilyeva, N.T. Baskakova and T.K. Pimonova from Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University in their article evaluated possibility of usage og logistics approaches during construction of managing systems for production reserves in iron ans steel industry. Determination of correspondence of the contracts to market conditions was the aim of this work that is published in the section “Automatic and control systems”.

Asinco GmbH, together with its partners in research centers and production plants, has developed the new processes and products aimed on quality improvement of rolled materials. On-line measuring radar is presented as an example of such innovation.

Prof. R. Didyk and ass. Prof. V. Kozechko from the National mining university (Ukraine) have investigated forming of multi-layer constructions by explosion welding. Analysis of testing results of layered samples for multi-cycle fatigue in the conditions of pulsed extending cycles has allowed to determine kinetics of fatigue destruction depending on physical and mechanical properties of inter-layer welding boundary.

The issue also includes the papers on the section “Economics and finances”.
