Obogashchenie Rud

The last issue of the journal “Obogashchenie Rud” in this year is distinguished by the topical section “Recycling of Secondary Raw Materials” that includes various papers. This subject is very important not only from the viewpoint of efficient use of resources, but alsoby reason of the necessity to solve many environmental challenges.

In particular, unconventional technologies of finely-dispersed gold recovery, based on physical-and-chemical treatment, sorption andlaser radiation energy flows application, are proposed (the paper by Т. S. Banshchikova, et al.). As the authors note, the proposed methods of finely-dispersed gold recovery encourage the gold plants to draw into processing the huge volumes of legacy placer gold, accumulated in pits and tailings storage facilities of developed placer deposits.

The prospects related to processing of nickel-containing final dump slags have been consideredby an example of theSouth Ural Nickel Plant (the paper by A. A. Veselovskiy).

The studies performed by the specialists of the Research and Engineering Corporation “Mekhanobr-Tekhnika” are dedicated to electronics scrap salvaging issues. This type of raw material disintegration process intensification methods, based on difference in composite components’ temperature coefficient of thermal expansion, have been developed (the paper by S. V. Dmitriev and А. S. Stepanyan). The follow-up of these studies is the investigation of specific behavior of crushed electronics scrap components with different conductivity in electrostatic separation process (the paper by A. O. Mezenin).

The studies performed with a view to coal-preparation waste utilization as raw material for coal-water fuelslurry production, also decreasing man-caused ecological impact in the regions of Fuel & Energy Complexes, determined the viability of this approach (the paper by М. А. Pashkevich, et al.).

This issue traditionally presented the information on “The Plaksin’s Readings – 2017”, held in Krasnoyarsk this year. It is appropriate to mention that the next Plaksin’s Readings – 2018 will take placewithin the framework of the XXIX International Mineral Processing Congress to be held in Moscow during 15–21 September 2018.
