Tsvetnye Metally
This issue precedes a milestone event for the mining industry, and namely the International Mineral Processing Congress 2018 (IMPC – 2018), which is to take place in the capital of Russia. This forum is of singular importance to mining and metallurgical professionals.
The Beneficiation section of the current issue is full of interesting and useful articles written by authors from Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia.
The HEAVY NON-FERROUS METALS section contains a research paper by professor S.S. Naboychenko from the Ural Federal University and editor-in-chief Yu.A. Korol, in which they elaborate on the applicability of phase mixing to achieve an optimized converter slag depletion process, which helps reduce the amount of return slag and the pyrometallurgical inventory.
A separate section is comprised of articles that pay tribute to RAS associate member, professor of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Siberian Branch of RAS G.L. Pashkov, who was a long-time leader of the Institute and who regularly contributed to and was among the editorial board of the Tsvetnye Metally journal. The articles are to commemorate professor Pashkov who passed away a year ago, as well as the 12th Metallurgy of Non-Ferrous, Rare and Precious Metals Conference to be held in Krasnoyarsk.
A separate mention should be made of an article created through cohesion between science and production – by MISIS and Solikamsk Magnesium Plant. The article is concerned with the use of base and acid for leaching from eudialyte concentrate. This paper continues a series of publications which look at different aspects of this problem.
Every new article from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials becomes a newsmaker, and the paper covering a study of new granular disc alloy for innovative aero gas turbine engines is no exception.
