Chernye Metally

The Steel Production section, which is devoted to the study of the iron oxidation rate in slags, is the first in this issue. It has been established that this indicator depends on partial pressure of oxygen and slag composition and does not depend on the iron oxides concentration.

The largest section of the issue is Metal Science and Metallography. A method is proposed for assessing the microstructure anisotropy over the thickness of sheet metal, based on the texture analysis of images; recommendations are given on the optimal mode of thermomechanical treatment with preliminary cold plastic deformation with a degree of 10%. The effect of nitrogen, boron and rare earth metals on technological plasticity and corrosion resistance of austenitic steel was studied, the optimal additives of boron, cerium and yttrium, conditions for maintaining the resistance of steel with nitrogen to intercrystalline corrosion during tests according to the DU GOST 6032-2017 method were determined. Study of hot plastic deformation of heat-resistant austenitic steel AISI 310S are continued: the modeling of fracture in torsion with tension is considered. The features of the structure formation during continuous cooling in C80D2 and C82D steels alloyed with carbide-forming elements are shown; based on the research results, the industrial cooling modes of coil products were improved to achieve at least 90% 1 number perlite in the steel structure

In the section Rolling and heat treatment, the study of the influence of technological parameters of rolling in universal stands on the process of metal displacement from edges to the longitudinal axis of the roll is continued, the critical point at which the metal displacement changes its direction is described. The studies are presented showing that, along with the steel grade and heat treatment modes, the wire drawing route has a great influence on properties of the wire and costs of its production; analysis is carried out and rational modes of wire drawing are determined.

The Metallurgical equipment section presents the use of VR / AR technologies in the design of metallurgical equipment on the example of a model of an assembly unit for an injection dust collector.

In the Technological measurements section, a technique is proposed that can be used in practice to determine the mechanical characteristics of materials by the indenter insertion method.

In the Engineering Technologies section, studies are presented that confirm the need for natural aging of engine cylinder castings before the first machining operation and artificial aging within the machining cycle.

In the Chronicle section: Ore and Metals Publishing House, the Ferrous Metals journal editorial staff and board express their condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Alexander Yakovlevich Stomakhin.
