Chernye Metally

The October (2021) issue of the "Chernye Metally" journal is mainly dedicated to the 65^th anniversary of the Lipetsk State Technical University.

The issue is headed with articles in which the issues of modernization of existing and construction of new mills for production of sheet metal are highlighted, proposals are formulated to improve the criteria for optimizing hot rolling technology according to the characteristics of the transverse profile, ensuring metal savings and increasing the productivity of broadband mills, and also ways of regulating rolling modes and their influence on the process of metal displacement from the edges to the longitudinal axis of the roll are considered and a mathematical model to correct the strip cooling modes has been developed.

The "Steel Production" section presents an article devoted to modernization of the device for movement of trolleys with ladles in the smelting shop of the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant in order to reduce the cost of the resulting product and increase the profit from its sale.

In the "Pipe production" section articles are published, which show the results of modeling the process of screw piercing of hollow billets, computer modeling by the finite element method of rolling pipes in a reduction mill in the QForm 3D software package and mechanical ring stresses in a pipe to determine the degree of danger of such defects.

The "Ecology and recycling" section is devoted to the effect of the cross-border carbon tax on the ferrous metallurgy of Russia (continuation of the publication from the August issue of the " Chernye Metally " journal), as well as projects of young specialists devoted to the climate warming challenge.

The "Machine-building technologies" section describes typical operations of preliminary shaping of an open box-shaped workpiece obtained from medium-alloy steel 30KhGSA with increased strength,

The journal publishes an interview with D.V. Nefedov, General Director, dedicated to the 15^th anniversary of the Ural Metalworking Company.
