Tsvetnye Metally

We would like to draw our readers’ attention to two collections of articles on different subject matter included in the March issue of Tsvetnye Metally.

The opening section of the issue features a collection of articles contributed by the Tomsk State University. A long introductory article tells the history of the Tomsk State University, while the research papers describe the findings of the University researchers in the following areas: concentration and processing of zircon concentrate, synthesis of zirconium and hafnium diborides, zinc compounds obtained from the Karatau phosphorites, zinc-bearing carbon nanosorbents synthesized for petroleum product refinement, processing of metallic bismuth resulting in the production of bismuth compounds, aluminium alloys doped with erbium. It is to be highlighted that many of the authors from the Tomsk State University are represented by young researchers – i.e. post- and undergraduate students.

Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company is the focus of the other collection of articles featuring this issue. It includes articles that describe the evolution of digital systems deployed at Kola MMC’s Severny Pit, the results of thermodynamic modelling that simulated the process of oxidizing roasting of sulphide copper-nickel concentrate (the modelling was carried out using the FactSage algorithms and databases), and the introduction of a new nickel concentrate processing technology at Kola MMC’s magnetic separation section.

Vasily A. Kryukovskiy, who has recently celebrated his 80^th birthday, receives warm wishes from his friends, colleagues and the Journal's editorial board members in the Our Jubilee People section.

The Chronicle section contains an obituary for Vladimir S. Kalchenko. His friends and colleagues, as well as the Journal's editorial board members, are expressing their sincere condolences to the late Vladimir’s family.
