The August 2022 (No. 8) issue of Gornyi Zhurnal opens with an address of the Head of the Science and Technology Office at NorNickel’s Polar Division M. S. Datsiev on the occasion of Miner’s Day, and offers some selected articles prepared by the specialists of Medvezhy Ruchey LLC which is NorNickel’s affiliate. The articles tell about Zapolyarny Mine which is an open-pit and underground platinum metals-bearing copper–nickel mining project in the Norilsk Region. The semi-commercial tests of an auxiliary self-propelling equipment with an electric drive supplied by accumulator batteries are described, the application of the latest technology of the lithium-ion batteries is illustrated, the efficiency of the battery-supplied machines in Zapolyarny Mine is assessed, etc.
The other articles inform on research and findings in the sphere of the coal sector growth, mineral mining, processing and integrated use, quality of equipment and materials, occupational and industrial safety, environmental protection, etc.
