The articles published in journal`s issue, embrace the subject area of heavy and light non-ferrous metals, rare metals, composite materials and multifunctional coverings. The journal takes up questions about the ore dressing theory and practice, production and processing of non-ferrous metals, multipurpose use of crude ore, economy and production management.
The influence of increasing globalization in non-ferrous metallurgy in general and in nickel industry in particular is examined in the article "Mergers and take-overs in the nickel industry – specifics of the present stage".
An international conference "Plaksin's Discourse – 2011” was held in Verkhnyaya Pyshma town from 19 till 24 of September 2011.There were represented reports, devoted to scientific basis and contemporary processes of hard-dressing mineral raw materials complex processing, under conditions of mineralogical makeup complication and increasing the support requirements of environmental safety of subsoils development. The short lectures abstract is given in V. A. Chanturiya`s and V. A. Bocharov`s article.
In A. I. Okunev`s article, published in "Heavy non-ferrous metals" section, is scientifically based and experimentally confirmed the lower sulphides oxidation chain with extraction of primary intermediate product in the form of sulfur monoxide (SO) and the explosive oxidation chain of higher iron sulphides (FeS2) and pyrite and chalcopyrite compounds (CuFeS2), as well as the pyrites materials with chains branching. Research results are confirmed by the pilot scale tests and the pilot plant tests by roasting and fusing the copper-zinc concentrates, ores and anthropogenic raw materials. The developed theory of sulphides oxidation by chain mechanism and results of this theory have no analogues abroad.
The article of group of authors from JSC "Sciences of Earth, metallurgy and processing Center", represents the results of the rhenium-content test in situ-leaching uranium solutions from various Kazakhstan ore deposits and rhenium behavior, while obtaining the natural uranium chemical concentrate from solutions by traditional technology. The operating conditions of rhenium sorption on A920 and IRA410 anionites and its further concentration by extraction are adjusted. The parameters are tested in plant conditions on uranium sorption filtrates with ammonium perrhenate obtaining.
M. N. Palatnikov`s, A. A. Frolov`s, O. B. Shcherbina`s, N. V. Sidorov`s, E. G. Kirkova`s article reports about the physico-chemical principles of increasing the ceramic containers` heat resistance for thermochemical processing of materials.
The “Chronicle” section publishes the article "Why did the World Trade Center collapse", which was published in 2011, in the Aluminium International Today journal. Article`s author C.J. Simensen analyzes the reasons which led to the collapse of WTC 1 and WTC 2 in 2001.
