Obogashchenie Rud
The 3rd issue of the journal “Obogashchenie Rud” (2012) was published. It represents all main sections: “Ore Preparation”, “Processing Technology”, “Analytical Methods” and “Technological Mineralogy”, “Equipment” and “Design Work”. The articles whose titles are shown on the cover, illustrate very well the above trends of the modern mineral processing science and practice.
The article by P.V. Malyarov et al., in the section “Ore Preparation” will be interesting for researchers studying solid bodies grinding regularities. This article is devoted to studying of relative motion of large and small balls in operating ball mill. Previously unknown regularities of large balls accumulation in mill’s center and movement of small balls to discharge grate are described.
The article by I.I. Maximov and V.A. Sentemova presents the results of processing studies on composite sample of certain varieties of high-magnetite oxidized quartzites. Two technologies are considered. If two concentrates – magnetite and hematite are to be produced, additional grinding of magnetite concentrate and its magnetic separation in weak field are required. The advantage of this alternative flow sheet is decreased flotation circuit. Joint flotation of magnetite and hematite concentrates, produced by magnetic separation, provides for a significant decrease in collector consumption. The final choice of processing technology should be based on technical and economic assessment.
The authors of the article “Copper-molybdenum concentrates selection with application of microbiological methods” (N.K. Algebraistovaet al.) applied microbiological treatment with new bacterial culture for selection of difficultly-processed material, in particular, the Sorsky Plant copper-molybdenum concentrate. The obtained results are of commercial interest, and are useful as regards further development of copper-molybdenum raw material biotechnology.
The article by I.V. Makarsky et al., considers the advantages and demerits of natural diamonds production-induced damage control methods, applied at “ALROSA” diamond recovery plants. The studies show that diamonds production-induced damage is considerably higher in diamonds liberation in wet autogenous grinding of kimberlites, if compared with effect of drilling-and-blasting works. The main trend in salable diamonds preservation increase consists in provision of optimal conditions in autogenous grinding of kimberlites through stabilization of load and radial size segregation in wet autogenous grinding mill’s drum.
The review, performed by V.F. Baranov, presents the data on the technical level of the state-of-the-art crushing and grinding equipment from the world leading producers. The technical characteristics of the latest cone and jaw primary crushers, as well as secondary and tertiary cone crushers, high pressure grinding rollers, autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding mills, ball mills, Vertimill and Isamill from Metso minerals, FLSmidth, Krupp Polysius, Humboldt Wedag, Koppern, Sandvik, Telsmith are briefly reviewed. Main parameters of the state-of-the-art equipment from Russian producers OAO “Uralmashzavod” and OAO “Tyazhmash” are analyzed in comparison with the foreign analogs. A proposal is put forward to establish a transnational machine-building holding for production of crushers and mills, to be highly competitive with the best foreign-produced equipment.
