The extraction of platinum metals (PM) from glass-melting apparatus chamotte lining waste is carried out with the use of pyrohydrometallurgical processes. They have a long production cycle and exclude the possibility of waste recycling at the wastegenerating facilities. Flotation and gravitational waste enrichment methods are well-known, but the extent of PM extraction does not exceed 80% with low content in the concentrate and significant content in the tailings, constituting up to 0.1%. The physical and chemical composition of the chamotte lining, as well as the geometry of free PM grains and chamotte mass particles, and types of associations was studied for the development of resource-saving processing technology of chamotte mass with a short production cycle. The PM concentration was performed on a CVC-100-2М centrifugal concentrator. The data on the concentrate output depending on the liquid/solid ratio, for different particle size of raw material, was obtained. The residual content of platinum metals in the tailings was determined by means of assay spectral test of representative samples. The sampling of waste was carried out by Sicon PT-75 automatic rotary tube divider. The technology of chamotte mass concentration with PM extraction of up to 90% was developed. The PM content in the tailings equaled 0.04%. The technology can be implemented at the facilities which operate glass-melting apparatus, or in regional centres for the recycling of scrap and waste containing precious metals. The physical and chemical composition of the castings and tailings displays a high degree of homogeneity and provides the possibility of laboratory samples selection.
