This article shows the analysis of historical way of foundation and development of the Institute, and contribution of its specialists to development of large iron ore base of mining and metallurgical complex. There are described the basic stages of 80-year activities of leading Ukrainian mining enterprises' designing institute. There are given the examples of carrying out of large-scale projects, which became the basis of construction and commissioning of tens of mining enterprises, and reconstruction of hundreds of industrial and civil objects. There is noted the big labor input of leading specialists of Institute into development of design-estimate documentation for construction, reconstruction and technical re-equipment of mining enterprises in pre-war period, years of the World War II and after-war period. There are presented the materials of large scientific and project developments and mastering of new technologies and equipment, offered by specialists of Institute. The following operations were carried out on the basis of analysis of real situation at mining enterprises:
- substantiation of complex approach to solving of problems, cumulated as a result of long-term and intensive exploitation of Kryvyi Rih basin iron ore deposits;
-giving of examples of problems' solving on the basis of results of the carried out work “Development and introduction of system of technologies of extraction and processing of iron ore raw materials with provision of rational subsoil use”.
There are noted the basic directions of activities of Institute, which provide the reduction of mining industry costs, increasing of competitiveness of marketable products and creation of conditions of prospective development of mining complex.
