Abstract

At present, pressure hydrocyclones are widely used, in particular, for size classification of finely ground materials. One of hydrocyclone's performance indicators is volumetric output by sands product. There are several empirical formulas for sands and overflow volumetric output relationship to discharge ratio. However, they do not permit to determine volumetric output by sands, as volumetric output value by overflow is not available. Therefore, it is expedient to relate volumetric output by sands to volumetric charge of slurry into hydrocyclon, which is usually available. The article presents analytical dependences, that permit to determine hydrocyclone's volumetric output by sands through calculations based on available volumetric value of slurry charge into hydrocyclon. It is shown, that volumetric output by sands product is calculated on the basis of initial volumetric charge of slurry into hydrocyclon, geometrical (design) parameters of overflow and sands lines twist, losses due to twist or initial moment of momentum retention factor, as well as overflow and sands densities ratio to feed slurry density. Calculation of GTs-360 hydrocyclone's volumetric output by sands product is presented, effect of slurry initial moment of momentum loss factor upon volumetric output by sands product is shown.
