Site of lumpy magnetic ore sorting was commissioned in 2008 at Kurzhunkul mine within investment program of Sokolovsko-Sarbaiskoe Mining and Concentration Production Association. This site was intended for preliminary concentration of ore and obtaining of crushed products (0-20 and 20-40 mm) from concentration tails. Such products are used in the time of road construction in open pit. Magnetite ores of gross output of Kurzhunkul mine (1000 mm coarseness) are the feedstock for site of lumpy magnetic ore. Coarseness of industrial product, obtained on lumpy magnetic ore site, is no more than 300 mm. Construction of lumpy magnetic ore site at Kurzhunkul mine made possible to include poor ores (19-25% of Fetotal) into processing and supply the open pit with road metal for road maintenance. At the same time, there appeared the possibility to exclude 260-390 th. t of lumpy waste rocks per year from rail transports from Kurzhunkul mine, which made possible to increase the values of processing of Kurzhunkul ore in whole Association. Losses of Fetotal in the time of ore extraction are decreased due to processing of off grade rock mass on КМR-1.8/2.0S complex from near-contact zones of ore and non-metallic bodies. At the same time, volumes of railway transportations of dry magnetic separation tails of ore preparation and concentration factory are decreased by 260-390 th. t per year. However, the quality of ore, processed at ore preparation and concentration factory, is increased. In 2010, site of lumpy magnetic ore was improved: there were introduced two additional stages of crushing of lumpy industrial products with installation of crushers of average and fine crushing (KSD-2200/400 and KMD-2200/400) and bringing the industrial product coarseness to 0-20 mm. This made possible to decrease the costs on production of industrial product of Ore Preparation and Concentration Factory and exclude the iron losses at the time of secondary dry magnetic separation of Kurzhunkul industrial product.
