Abstract

The results of deep-filled sluice end part conceptually different gold-catching covers testing in gold-bearing sand washing, performed at two different production areas, are presented. The main data used in the experimental results analysis were particle size distribution (size factor, yield figures, combined characteristics) and relative quantity of caught metal in deep-filled sluice concentrate according to the data provided from the production areas final concentration sections. As a result of the conducted testing, it was shown, that fine and medium-grained gold (according to FNII-1) may be recovered at the same level with application of both deep-filled full-length sluice covers and a combination of different gold-catching covers. Main advantages and disadvantages of the operating gold-catching sluice covers are described. It is noted, that under favorable operating conditions and with low controllability demands, it is expedient to apply more expensive materials and gold-catching covers that need to be operated with care and require competent process control. Under heavy-duty and adverse operating conditions, it is recommended to use simplified washing-out techniques and materials that are more resistant to mechanical stress in installation and removal.
