Abstract

The article describes the IPKON Silicate Capsule developed by the IPKON institute (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) for fixing steel rock bolts in holes. IPKON Silicate Capsule ensures rapid development of strength in cement, expansion of the mix in plastic and matured condition, creation of radial thrust in the hole and enhancement of load-bearing capacity of rock bolting thereby. The authors characterize the base mix composition and experimentally found relations and parameters that ensure high and positive-going strength of cement and buildup of load-bearing capacity of rock bolts in holes. Industrial tests and application of rock bolting with the new IPKON Silicate Capsule in different-purpose excavations in underground mines in Kazakhstan are exemplified. Various designs and installation technologies of rock bolting are shown subject to cross section of an underground excavation, and hardness, jointing and moisture content of rocks. The authors compare the new silicate holder and the conventional polymeric fixers of steel rock bolts in holes.
