Abstract | Roll crushers are compared favourably with crushing equipment of other types with regard to materials that show tendency to stick to crushers’ working members. Recent upgrades of operating ore-dressing facilities demonstrated a profound interest to toothed-screw roll crushers, their range of application and actual performance characteristics. Special design features of this type of crushers, their application capabilities, examples of their application at operating ore-dressing facilities, as well as certain points that need to be taken into consideration in design of crushing circuits with this type of crushers, are discussed in the paper on the basis of many years’ experience in design, production, commissioning and operation of this kind of crushers. It is noted, that the main advantages of toothed-screw crushers include exceptional throughput rate, combined with compact design and a low specific quantity of metal per structure; self-cleaning crushing surfaces, permitting to efficiently crush high-moisture materials with viscous-plastic slimes, as well as availability of uncrushable items automatic detection system. Another advantage of this type of crusher is the possibility of design configuration providing for optimal performance parameters with respect to its specific application: required throughput rate, feed and crushed product sizes, feed material strength and crusher’s operating conditions. |
