Abstract | A promising way of enhancing extraction of finely dispersed noble metal particles from ore and mining waste is the centrifugal separators. Engineered in the 1900s, turbulence-creating centrifugal separators (TCS) feed weakening (turbulization) water flow from within the separator cone. The experimental modeling of turbulence-creating centrifugal separation of artificial mixtures allowed determination of optimal parameters for finely dispersed gold recovery. Based on laboratory research, a plant with TCS has been designed for processing of gold-bearing pyrite products. The introduction of these products in the closed-cycle combination dressing flowchart with hydrocyclones for copper–gold ore with gold mass fraction of 1 g/t enables 10% gold recovery in the primary concentrate with the gold mass fraction of 88% and more than 35% gold recovery in the gold-containing product with the gold mass fraction over 200 g/t. The industry testing of TCS in processing of tailings taken from Semenovskaya gold processing plant and from the preparation plant at the Buribaevsky Mining-and-Processing Integrated Works has yielded products suitable for metallurgical processing. The technology including the centrifugal separation of Buribaevsky MPIW tailings, with sinking fraction for copper cementation from underspoil water has been recommended for the industrial application. As a result of tests of a movable modular plant, composed of a gold-washer, sluice, settling well with a pump and TCS, the data have been obtained for validation of gold-bearing contents of placer mining waste at the river Vinnovka. Currently the engineering of TCS with feasible continuous discharge of sinking fraction is in progress. |
