The review about Hannover Messe industrial fair that has taken place in April 2015 is presented. Actual trends are analyzed and the first examples of automation developments illustrating Industry 4.0 (the 4^th industrial revolution) are displayed. Applied Internet, degree of hardware and software integration, state of logistic systems, prospects of automatic control and management are examined as the features of each enterprise in the future. The most importance of functional surfaces of prospective components and products is noted. Due to aimed variation of surfaces and adaptation of coating layers to existing material, the substantial effect on wear resistance, friction and other operating parameters can be achieved. These properties increase operating efficiency of products.
