This paper considers the possibility to use artificial materials (metamaterials) obtained on the basis of non-ferrous metals as the inclusions for microwave technology. Artificially created periodic structure of macroscopic inclusions with arbitrary size and shape mainly determines the properties of this material. Parametric analysis of microwave filter, based on microstrip line with etched split ring resonator (SRR) on ground plane, is carried out. SRR is an inclusion element and one of the variants of metal inclusions in the metamaterial. It consists of two concentric rings with gaps on opposite sides. The basic relations for the calculation of the effective permeability and S-parameters (coefficients of reflection and transmission) of microstrip board with the inclusion of SRR are presented. They show the influence of the geometrical dimensions of the split ring resonator on the value of the resonant frequency of the filter and on its band pass response. Resonant frequency of microwave filter as a function of the width of each ring of SRR and the gap size between two rings of SRR is investigated. Microwave filter with series coupling feed lines and with parallel coupling feed lines is shown. The gap distance between feed lines of the series feed lines and the feed stub length of parallel feed lines are changed to study the effect of resonant frequency of microwave filter. It is defined that parallel coupling feed line has better bandpass response than series coupling feed line. The results are presented in graphs. The conclusions about the possibility of using split ring resonator as a structural element of microwave components in microwave devices are drawn. Results of research of the microwave filter with the inclusion of SRR allow to facilitate the control of the filter parameters and to accelerate the process of development of a ready-made product.
