The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is the key mineral mining and supply region in the Russian Federation and is capable to enable considerable national economy advance given constant demand for mineral reserves. Mineral diversity is conditioned by geological structure of the vast area of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) composed of various age geological formations originated by active tectonics. All in all, as of January 1, 2015, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) holds 2182 registered mineral deposits with 59 kinds of minerals and hydrocarbon reserves. The Republic is Russia’s leading producer of diamonds, gold and antimony; it carries out large-scale recovery of oil and gas for the domestic purposes and export as well as produces natural gas, underground water, construction materials, prevailing and other minerals for the domestic needs. Supplies base of gas, rare metals, rare earth elements, silver and graphite has been developed and is being expanded. Under construction is the East Russia’s largest natural gas pipeline Power of Siberia to supply gas in the Asia-Pacific region. On the whole, the mineral reserves and resources allow development in the mining industry under obligatory condition of continuous geological exploration in the framework of advanced (regional and prospecting) and developing (appraisal and explorations) plan supported from all sources of finance. |
