Abstract

The article reviews the experience gained by Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant (Lebedinsky GOK) in the production quality enhancement owing to introduction of innovations and production process supervision perfection. The quality control is implemented at each process stage, starting from open pit mining and finishing with the direct iron reduction. The overall operation is executed and coordinated by the Engineering Supervision Board of Lebedinsky GOK. In recent years Lebedinsky GOK has opened up production of new kinds of iron ore pellets: high-grade and high-quality. The latter differ from the earlier products both by higher iron content and increased strength, which greatly reduces dusting during transportation and rehandling of pellets. Lebedinsky GOK continues expanding hot-briquetted iron works and carries out full-scale tests in the field of making high-carbon products. An important action aimed to improve production quality at Lebedinsky GOK has become the arrangement of the on-receipt inspection service to control quality of materials and equipment delivered by outside organizations.
