Abstract

Competitive weakness of open pit mining companies in Russia is as a rule connected with the low averaged productivity of the main mining and transportation equipment. Given the appropriate production setup, it is possible to achieve competitive efficiency of equipment and, accordingly, labor. In this connection, it becomes again topical to find the ways of elevating capacity level of mining and transportation machines. It is advisable to evaluate the organizational and technological capabilities to enhance productivity of the main mining and transportation equipment by means of the organization-and-technology auditing of the production system, including express-analysis of the production setup, constraints and feasible directions toward higher efficiency of the equipment. The production setup is analyzed using the semigraphical method based on the interpretation of time series of productivities per each unit of the equipment. Constraints and capacities are estimated with regard to a specific technology and operating conditions. The revealed capabilities to enhance equipment efficiency can be materialized in the framework of an integrated production process development program (project) based on the data obtained during the organization-and-technology audit. The reliable achievement of the targeted performance is ensured by the formation of an organizational mechanism of the development program implementation. The organizational mechanism of the program implementation consists of a system of personnel motivation and a system of predictive control and adjustment. Adherence to the listed conditions enables reliable improvement in productivity of mining and transportation equipment and in efficiency of open pit mines by 20–30%.
