Реферат | Production and consumption of coal, including coking and power-generating coal, in major countries of the world in 2000–20165 is analyzed. The main trends in the global coal production are identified and forecasts are made over the period to 2035. By the beginning of 2017, the global coal reserves totaled 1139.3 Bt. In 2016, coal production in the world was 7.3 Bt (55.6% higher than in 2000), out of which 1.1 Bt was coking coal and 6.2 Bt was power-generating coal. By the end of 2016, the leading coal producers in the world were China (44.5%), India (9.7%), USA (9.2%), Australia (6.9%) and Indonesia (6.3%). Russia produced 5.3% of the global coal production, or 385.7 Mt of coal, which put it in the sixth place in the world. The global coal consumption in 2016 made 7.5 Bt (6.7% less than during the peak coal consumption in the world in 2013). Reduction in coal consumption worldwide is conditioned by the lessening of the demand for power-generating coal. At the same time, the coking coal demand has increased although it only takes 13% of the global coal consumption. Coal is mainly consumed for generation of electric power and heat, which totals 65.5% in the world use of coal on the average. The forecasts of the global coal production over the period to 2035, developed at the Research Center for Coal Industry in the World and in Russia at the Energy Research Institute, RAS, show that the world economy will loose annually round 120 Mt of coal, which is the level of annual coal consumption by the modern power industry in Russia. |
