Abstract | The case studies of sudden squeezing in face salt rock mass shows that the single method available currently to prevent damage effect produced by these gas-dynamic events on mine personnel is equipment of shearers with shields that are sometimes break and fail to protect personnel. The article considered different methods to prevent gas-dynamic events in potash mines under shearing. It is shown that gas-dynamic process control in face areas can be performed by means of active degassing of salt rock mass ahead of the face (gas drainage hole drilling, making degassing–stress relieving grooves) and by passive technique of making a rational form face. These solutions to be applied require scientific evaluation of heading equipment, advanced drilling parameters and mining technology. The most inexpensive but efficient way to solve the problem of sudden squeezing of face salt rocks is development of organizational and technical measures aimed to prevent damage effect of rock blocks ejected during squeezing of mine personnel in the face area. The minimal parameters of rock blocks capable to break shearer shields are determined. Safe distance for a shearer operator to implement remote control with the eliminated damage due to rock ejection from face slat rock mass during squeezing is found. To solve the problem of squeezing at the Starobinskoe deposit special organizational and technological measures are applied. In the west and east of Mine 2 field and in the north of Mine-3 field, extraction panels are prepared for mining only using shearer Ural-61 and heading machines that make concave planar face. Under face rock mass squeezing, such form of the faces allows directing the gas-and-salt flow to the center of the excavation, to the shearing device, which enables prevention of broken rock ejection beyond the shearer shield and into the face area. After the introduction of the shearers making concave–planar faces, injuries of miners under squeezing of face salt rock mass ceased. |
