Abstract |
The effect of layered silicates on mineral processing mainly depends on the anisotropy of mineral particles obtained by mineral disintegration. The main effect produced by anisotropic mineral particles present in aqueous suspensions is caused by their influence on the rheological properties of these suspensions. The presence of layered silicates with mobile crystal lattices in the mined ore significantly complicates both its wet and dry processing. Most methods aimed to reduce their impact on mineral processing have the same disadvantage: while solving the problems at some stages of the process flow, these seriously complicate respective downstream processes. It seems expedient to find such a technology that would ensure a certain structure modification at the initial stage of the process flow and acquisition of new physical and chemical properties for all layered silicates, resulting in lower negative effects on mineral processing. It is shown that promising solutions aimed at more efficient processing of ores containing layered silicates imply the inclusion of thermal and hydrothermal modification as the primary stages of the process flow. These modifications would ensure a reduction or elimination of the negative impact of such materials currently experienced in ore preparation, separation and dewatering and in the storage of processing products. The solutions require additional energy inputs, but ensure significant savings in other resources. The study was carried out under the grant issued by the Russian Science Foundation (project No. 18-17-00169). |
