Abstract |
The efficiency of milled peat extraction is largely determined by the quality of the surface of peat production fields. A big problem for the technological process is the edges that remain on the canal strips (edges of the peat production fields) 25–50 cm wide as a result of peat cutting in the central (main) part. They impede the operation of machinery and equipment, prevent the normal removal of rain and melt water. Since the frequent full profiling of the surface of peat production fields is a very energy-consuming operation, the cutting of the edges is carried out using special profilers, or edge cutters. However, in Russia there is no own manufacture of edge cutters, and the most common edge cutter PRF-240, produced in Finland by Suokone OY, processes only one edge in one pass. The goal of the authors is to develop a project of the Russian edge cutter, which processes both near-channel edges of adjacent fields in one pass and has standard and unified components in its design. This study focuses on substantiation of the installation angle of the cutters on the machine. To solve this issue, the integrated laboratory experiments were carried out aimed at substantiating the optimal installation angle of the cutters by three criteria: the absence of throwing peat field channels with peat chips, the intensity of the decrease in the active working width and the intensity of the increase in the energy intensity of the process. The study used a modernized milling laboratory installation equipped with digital strain gauge equipment. The results showed that, according to three criteria, the milling angle of 20º is optimal. |
