The work is devoted to the improvement of smelting steel 110G13L technological process with the purpose to increase its mechanical properties, improve its quality group and operational reliability of such critical railway castings as turnouts and crosses, as well as to reduce the cost of steel. With the help of statistical and regression analyzes, three areas that improved the technological process of smelting steel 110G13L using innovative materials developed by OOO “Metallurg SOAL” were revealed. These areas include: 1. Organization of early slag induction during charge melting. To achieve this, limestone was loaded onto the hearth of the furnace in the amount of 50 kg/t of liquid metal with flux RSH in the amount of 5 kg/t of liquid metal. The resulting fusible slag quickly filled the wells in the charge cut by the electrodes and screened the arcs. As a result, all the heat was spent on heating the metal. 2. Increase in the efficiency of diffusion deoxidation of steel. To achieve this, an aluminum-containing diffusion deoxidizer was used in the amount of 6 kg per 1 t of liquid steel. The deoxidizer has the ability to foam and effectively deoxidize slag. 3. Ladle processing of the melt in a ladle using a universal refining mixture. The mixture provides an adsorption-flotation method for refining of steel. The main difference of the developed materials is that they have a high dispersion, which significantly increases their reactivity. In addition, they are packaged in 3 kg bags, what greatly eases the work of steelworkers by facilitating dosing accuracy and control over the rational use of materials. Application of the developed areas for improving the technological process of smelting 110G13L for critical railway castings, in combination with the optimization of the chemical com-position of steel and slag, made it possible to sharply increase the number of first group quality melts from 29 to 71 %. The economic effect of the developed process implementation amounted to 1,768 rubles per ton of smelted steel.
