Abstract

Since 1990s, the global consumption of uranium has exceeded its mining. For the past 10 years the annual deficit has been around 28,000 tonnes, and the total deficit by 2009 was 500,000 tonnes. The deficit is covered by obtaining uranium from secondary resources: civil or military storages of natural and enriched uranium, uranium from SNF and tails after isotope enrichment.
