Abstract | Along with the need to intensify prospecting and exploration in the outer zones at mineral deposits being mined and in new areas, the problem of mining waste management is becoming relevant. Recycling can not only reduce the impact on the components of the natural environment, but also preserve the resource potential. Tailings containing critical minerals are increasingly more often considered as potential secondary sources of metals. This study discusses the possibility of identifying mineralization zones by the data of remote sensing of the Earth. This is an integrated study since the proposed approach allows not only the qualitative assessment of manmade raw materials, but also the analysis of natural vegetation restoration on lands disturbed by mining. Various combinations of data channels are described. The analysis of hypergene processes occurring in natural and technical systems during development of mineral deposits and their reflection on high-resolution satellite images is carried out. A technique is developed for estimating the residual reserves of metals in manmade placers. It is revealed that the mineral composition of processing wastes at placers is diverse. An algorithm is developed for delineating zones with residual metals in mined-out areas of placers by characteristic changes in valleys and beds of water courses. The criteria for identifying manmade objects and calculating their reserves are found with the help of satellite imagery. The zonal distribution of associate mineralization is determined from the synthesized color images in different spectral intervals. The obtained results are supposed to be used in electronic thematic mapping of manmade deposits in the Far East of Russia. |
