Abstract

This article presents the results of the assessment of geo-ecological risk at a specific metallurgical enterprise. The metallurgical industry plays a key role in the global economy, however, its operation can pose significant environmental risks to the environment and human health. Assessing environmental risks is a key step in environmental management at metallurgical enterprises. This article addresses the issue of assessing geo-ecological risks, as one of the elements of assessing environmental risks, which have been previously understudied in the metallurgical industry. Effective management of geo-ecological risks plays an important role in minimizing the negative impact on the environment. At this stage of management, a comprehensive approach to assessment is necessary, taking into account the negative impact on geosystems resulting from emissions into the atmosphere, discharges into natural water bodies, waste management, and other factors of metallurgical technological processes. Currently, there is no universally accepted methodology for assessing geo-ecological risks for metallurgical enterprises. The main value of this work lies in the proposed methodology for calculating an integrated indicator taking into account identified factors influencing the assessment of geo-ecological risk at a metallurgical enterprise. By applying effective risk assessment methods, organizations can enhance their level of environmental safety and ensure sustainable development of the region.
