Abstract | In recent years, the main directions of development of metallurgy have been entirely determined by the exceptional attention paid to reducing CO2 emissions. As one of the ways to reduce CO2 emissions, the replacement of carbon with hydrogen during iron smelting is considered, without considering that the production of hydrogen is also associated with carbon dioxide emissions. The degree of CO utilization during indirect reduction in the high-temperature zone of a blast furnace is 28-38 %, in contrast to direct reduction. The use of ore-coal briquettes in a blast furnace is a promising direction for increasing the degree of utilization of the reducing power of carbon. The paper examines the effectiveness of using ore-coal briquettes in the production of vanadium cast iron from the point of view of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. It has been shown that carbon costs for direct reduction of titanomagnetite concentrate are 6 times less than for indirect reduction. The use of ore-coal briquettes in the charge of blast furnaces will reduce the specific carbon consumption of fuel in the production of vanadium cast iron, as well as reduce CO2 emissions. |
