Abstract

The smelting of cast iron from vanadium-containing titanomagnetites has some difficulties, compared to the production of steel-making iron, which are associated with the presence of vanadium and titanium in the charge. An effective way to increase the conversion of vanadium to cast iron and prevent the formation of refractory titanium compounds is to increase the intensity of blast furnace smelting. Improving the quality of coke is one of the ways to increase the intensity of smelting. The effect of coke quality on the efficiency of blast furnaces smelting cast iron from vanadium-containing titanomagnetites is considered, namely, the conditions for the reduction of vanadium and titanium and the desulfurization of cast iron.
