Abstract

Information is provided on the experience of developing and operating the granulometer PIK-074P developed by JSC Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika and the automatic control system for sand flow based on the VAZM-2U control unit at the white matte grinding processing at JSC Kola MMC. It is shown that the granulometer works in difficult conditions of current production: the presence of foreign inclusions in the pulp of ground white matte (wood chips, pieces of rubber and plastic, fragments of plastic film, pebbles, etc.) can disrupt the operation of the device. Ground white matte, which has a higher specific gravity than ore, is more prone to precipitation and siltation of the unit through which the pulp passes. However, practically, it is possible to find technical solutions capable of ensuring sufficiently reliable operation of the granulometers PIK-074P. An example of a box for installing a granulometer on the drain of a mill classifier, which is used in mills at JSC Kola MMC, is shown. An example of increasing the accuracy of determining the fine grain content up to 20 microns through the grain content up to 45 microns with the possibility of using this parameter for automatic control of the white matte grinding process is considered. The practical significance of automatic determination of sand flow through a screwtype classifier is considered. An example of a comparative analysis of the sand load display on a screw-type classifier is given by the current consumed by the motor of the classifier’s spiral rotation drive and by calculating sand flow using a mathematical model, which opens up new possibilities for regulating sand flow into the mill load and preventing sand overload of the classifier.
