Abstract | Demand for potash fertilizers enjoys a persistent growth in the world. Only a few countries produce potash salt, and, consequently, supply the global demand for potash and create a price level for this raw material. For this reason, it is highly urgent that new producers of potash fertilizers appear in such countries as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The prospects of creation and development of the potash industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan as a new sector of industry in the sovereign state are discussed. The basis for this is the Tyubegatan and Akbash deposits in the Kashkadarya region. The Tyubegatan deposit nearby Dekhkanabad is better explored and holds richer resources of potash salt. At the Tyubegatan potash deposit, the Dekhkanabad Potash Plant was built. The data of exploration drilling in a potash-bearing seam of the deposit are analyzed. Understanding of the nature of different-kind productive strata enabled adjustment of the mining technology. The possibility of getting access to the mineral in the mine field at the Dekhkanabad Potash Plant via shaft sinking using borer miners was offered by the inclined occurrence of the salt-bearing strata with shallow outcropping of enclosing salt rocks. The access to the productive strata via inclined shafts used Ural 20R borer miners. The sidewall incline in the access cuttings 260 m long, driven at the top of the inclined shafts, in compact clayey rocks was 80° instead of initially suggested 35°. The main fan installation was placed underground, which allowed decreasing losses associated with depression in the air intake course by more than 50 %. Aimed to preserve integrity of the upper parts of the inclined shafts in the overburden quaternary rocks, the yielding steel sets were used as a support system. The advanced approaches to design and construction of the mine at Dekhkanabad Potash Plant enabled prompt commissioning of the plant, at minimal economic cost. |
